The Zhuzhou Institute of China Railway Rolling Stock Co. (CRRC) has developed a control system with expanded bandwidth and microsecond speed which perform 60 times faster as compared to present systems. Using recombinant aromatic decarboxylases expressed in E. coli, various phenol derivatives could be carboxylated in the presence of KHCO3 and salt-forming quaternary ammonium salts to the corresponding hydroxy-benzoic acids such as salicylic acid in yields up to 97 %.

SINOPEC and CAS Institute of Hydrobiology cultivate oil-producing green algae using industrial flue gas
Chlorella strains were screened which are nitrite-tolerant, and an efficient bioreactor was developed. After a stepwise optimization of mixotrophic cultivation of Chlorella using actual flue gas fixed salts (FGFS), an impressive DeNOx efficiency of over 96%, along with a biomass productivity of 9.87 g L-1 d-1 and a significantly high bio-lipid productivity of 1.83 g L-1 d-1, were obtained.

Ninxia University develops desert robots to monitor sandstorms
The robots, one six-legged and the other wheeled with a loading capacity of 8 kg and 80 kg respectively, can measure wind speed, air pressure, humidity, sand vibration and wind erosion. They are equipped with solar panels, use microwaves to relay data over an area of 25 kilometers and can run for one hour

CAS Institute of Biology obtains carbonyl reductase with high thermal stability
The enzyme which is important for the synthesis of various drugs (APIs) has been derived from Chryseobacterium sp. CA49 and, by protein design, been improved to stand 65 C for 15 d at > 95 % residual activity as compared to the wild type enzyme which has a half-live of only 12 min under these conditions.

Meihua’s operating income exceeds 10 billion Yuan in 2015, amino acids account for 80 %
The increase of operating income increased by 20 % compared to 2014. Meihua is among the three companies which govern 80 % of the Chinese MSG market. In addition to MSG, the company also is a major producer of threonine and lysine.
