According to the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, “scientific literacy” is 4,8 % for urban workers but only 1,5 % for farmers. The program aims to reach a 5 % average by 2015. “Museums” will contain 15-20 pieces of interactive science exhibits, 10 computers, 1000 books and 1 set of projection equipment at a cost of 300.000 RMB, and the first 200 will be built by 2013.
