Chinese scientists have developed a modular hospital which can be put together in different configurations according to a country’s needs. The concept was developed since 2010 within The Low Cost Health Programme Centre (LCHPC) at the CAS Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT). Ten African doctors were trained to use the hospitals as part of a trial. They will also be trained in the actual hospitals before use. six African countries this year. Recipients are Cameroon and Namibia, followed by Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania and Egypt by the end of this year.
