The over 100 CAS institutes employ at present 56.000 researchers (excluding postdocs and visiting scholars) of which 1 % are foreigners. According to CAS Deputy Secretary-General TAN Tieniu, this will be stepped up to 3 % by 2020. In 2014, CAS received 1700 applications from all over the world.
