Nature has ranked CAS as No. 6, shortly behand the Max-Planck-Society, in global scientific output, as measured by the number of publications in 68 Nature-associated magazines. CAS in 2013 published 165 papers in these magazines, as compared to Harvard University with 387 papers. Nine Chinese institutions were placed in the top 200, up from three in 2013.
