The groups of ZHANG Jian and ZHANG Yajie at Ningbo CAS Institute of Materal Engineering and Technology succeeded to oxidize commercial CNTs by controlled ozone oxidation into a carboxylated and phenolated catalyst which could be used to produce hydroxymethylfurfural from glucose.
