CAS Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health discovers that oncogene stops generation of iPS cells

In experiments with undifferentiated stem cells, the group of PEI Duanqing found that c-Jun, a well-known transcription factor and oncogen, resulted in the differentiation of embryonic stem cells but inhibited reprogramming of somatic cells cultured with the „Yamanaka factors“.
