The research team, led by Xiangang Luo from the State Key Laboratory of Optical Technologies on Nano-fabrication and Micro-engineering, CAS, and Minghui Hong’s team from Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore, have demonstrated full-color 3D meta-holography imaging with extended viewing angles, realized by a single layer of nanostructured metallic surface. The usable data capacity and cross-talk limitations were improved and by using a single type of plasmonic pixel. This not only led to a remarkable image quality, with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) five times better than that of the previous meta-hologram designs, but to a full-color meta-holographic image in the 3D space, with pending applications in data storage, security, and authentication.
