Splicosomes are resonsible for correct gene expression and involved in up to 1/3d of genetic disorders. A group around Yingong SHI at Tsinghua University succeeded to solve the x-ray structure of this hitherto elusive group of enzymes. Chinese commentaries consider this finding as relevant for a Nobel prize.
