Using transcriptomics, the group around Dr Chaoguang TIAN found out that arabinose induces various transporters, transcription factors and enzymes well, but not xylose. Several new factors such as glucose transfer protein (GLT-1), pentose transporterx XYT-1 and XAT-1) and a xylanase regulatory factor (HCR-1) were identified which may help to enhance the metabolism of xylose in this organism
