The Center, which will take 5 years to construct, will be involved in R&D on plants concerning landscaping and functional product development, application of polyploid engineering, radiation mutagenesis, molecular markers, germplasm creation of lavender, lavender cultivation with high yield and good quality new varieties. In particular, the status of overwintering of lavender varieties will be addressed. Recently, the laboratory has collected from home and abroad some 300 ~ 500 kinds of wild or cultivated „landscape“ plant germplasm resources and targets technologies to master of preservation in vitro of various resources, their breeding and cultivation.
